“Behind the Lesson” series

Live conversations that leveraged the creative process as content marketing and community engagement.

Challenge

Flocabulary wanted to deepen the way educators and students connected with our lessons — not just as educational content, but as work created by genuine artists.

Solution

I helped shape Behind the Lesson, a live virtual series that brought freelance artists, musicians, and writers into conversation with our team about both their creative process and the lesson topics themselves. This project was a digital manifestation of the fact that Flocabulary has never been teachers cosplaying as rappers. It’s rappers and musicians developing learning content. Each event was paired with a social campaign featuring quotes and visuals from the artists and educators.

Results

The series strengthened product authenticity, expanded audience engagement, and created a new way for users to feel part of the creative and cultural context behind the curriculum, not just the final product.

The bottom left is a man wearing a cap and headphones speaking into a microphone. The bottom right is a man with glasses and a beard, also wearing headphones, smiling. There is a chat message about living for a week in rap and a notice of questions for art.
