Executive Order 14327 response
Turning uncertainty into credibility: a measured content response to a policy announcement
Challenge
In 2025, while freelancing as a content marketer for an edtech company that creates asynchronous, virtual physical education lessons, the White House announced the reinstatement of the Presidential Fitness Test. The announcement sparked immediate excitement internally. Leadership mobilized quickly, and within days the company began promoting a speculative solution internally before it was clear what the policy actually meant for schools, teachers, or the company’s product. The tone assumed enthusiasm for the test’s return, despite its mixed legacy in public education. The core challenge was urgency without clarity.
Solution
I recommended pausing execution of a “solution” and focused on understanding the moment before responding to it. I quickly read the Executive Order, reviewed the public commentary it generated, and spoke with teachers and people who had experienced the Presidential Fitness Test firsthand in public schools. This research clarified that educators were not looking for a quick solution. They were looking for understanding and expertise.
Rather than launching a premature product narrative, we shifted to a measured content response. We produced a simple blog post and a landing page that acknowledged the policy shift, expressed empathy for educator uncertainty, and positioned the company as a calm, informed resource rather than a reactive opportunist.
Results
The company avoided unnecessary product work, reduced internal stress, and preserved credibility in a volatile moment. By slowing down and responding with clarity instead of panic, the organization positioned itself as a reliable, thoughtful partner. This was good for users, good the brand, good for the bottom line, and good for the team.
